Dave Hendry is a nationally recognized expert on achieving learner engagement and understanding through application of principles of instructional design, and has served as principal faculty member in more than 100 teacher institutes for schools and districts nationwide.

Dave Hendry is President of Real Curriculum. He has previously held positions as Senior Vice President for Curriculum Management at Age of Learning, Vice President of Research and Development at The Galef Institute, Director of Curriculum for The Futures Channel, Director of Curriculum for the Foundation for Advancements in Science and Education, and Director of Curriculum for Delphi Schools.

Mr. Hendry is a nationally recognized expert on achieving learner engagement and understanding through application of principles of instructional design, and has served as principal faculty member in more than 100 teacher institutes for schools and districts nationwide. He has lectured widely to educators and others about education policies and teaching practices that will prepare today’s young and adult learners for the challenges of the future.

Through his company Real Curriculum, Mr. Hendry assists leading education providers with both curriculum development and professional development projects, including the authoring of asynchronous and semi-synchronous training courses for educators and others. His work has involved PD design and delivery and on-site coaching in school districts throughout California, including three years at Environmental Charter High School, and development of a complete solar energy curriculum for a major California-based solar company.

Producer of the documentary Good Morning Miss Toliver, the instructional television series The Eddie Files, and the award-winning professional development series The Kay Toliver Files, Mr. Hendry is two-time winner of the George Foster Peabody award, and has won The Educational Press Association's highest award for curriculum resources. Mr. Hendry was Principal Investigator for two National Science Foundation projects and for two US Department of Education Professional Development projects, and is the creator of The National Math Trail. Mr. Hendry is named co-inventor on 7 educational technology patents, and has been recognized for “outstanding contributions in transforming education through technology to enrich the lives of learners everywhere” as 2023 Finalist in the EdTech Trendsetter Awards.

As lead curriculum designer on the ABCmouse.com development team, Mr. Hendry contributed to the creation of a groundbreaking early childhood education resource that earned the Children’s Technology Review Editor’s Choice Award, the Teacher’s Choice Award, and the Parent’s Choice Gold Award.

In his role as SVP Curriculum Management at Age of Learning, Mr. Hendry was deeply involved in product development for the company, including design and implementation of structured interactive learning experiences. These include cutting edge mathematics and reading applications for early learners that utilize highly sophisticated and innovative AI and adaptive technologies to help children build a solid foundation of conceptual understandings and skills.

Mr. Hendry is also President of the health education non-profit Fundamentals of Health Alliance and curriculum co-founder of True Education Enterprises, which developed and manages the UNICORN global tutoring platform.
